Thailand is one the world’s most important rubber production bases. Currently, Thailand covers the natural rubber plantation area of 18.7 million rai (2.992 million hectares), of which mature area is 13.81 million rai (2.2096 million hectares). In 2013, the annual rubber output is expected to reach 3.86 million tonnes, of which 13% is domestically consumed, 83% is exported in the form of primary processing products, generating income of over 600 billion baht per year from the exports. The main source of plantation is intensively in the South, in which Surathani covers the largest plantation area, followed by Songkhla with the area of 1.52 million rai (0.2432 million hectares) where major rubber processing factories are located.

Natural rubber is a plant of economic importance and the principal industry of Songkhla, accelerating the economic growth of the country. The Industrial promotion Center XI is to organize Rubber Products Expo 3 during 22-24 August 2013 at International Conference Center, Prince of Songkhla University, Songkhla. The exhibition includes rubber seminar and conference with the key topic on competitivity in rubber industry development, how to manage rubber remuneratively, value-added rubber products, etc. Additionally, there are also exhibitions about research outputs from various institutes, equipment, machinery, rubber innovation, innovative products, business negotiation, booths of rubber and hevea wood products as well as rubber related products.

Rubber Products Expo 3 is an important event strengthening provincial and regional rubber industry and connecting rubber industry network regionally and inter-regionally, leading to product development and sustainable competitive advantage. This is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs in Songkhla in which information, innovation, experiences, relationship between producers and processors are fostered.
